My Intel SE440BX-2 Slot 1 board runs a PIII 850 Coppermine just fine. Older revisions of the board do not support this CPU though.

I made a few changes to get things running at 20Mhz with a AT bus divider of 2. I swapped out the GoldStar Prime 2C Multi IO card I was using and for one that has a UMC chipset. If that is the photo of your board... the memory looks like 70ns (9-chip simms). The 3-chip simms are harder to read, but looks like 60ns!? The more I research this board, the more interesting it becomes. I can't find much information on the MACRONIX MX83C305FC/MX83C306FC chipset it uses other than it does have an integrated 8K L1 Cache. While that is not a lot of cache memory, I am sure that is partially offset by the lower latency …

It has cache. A small one integrated into the chipset. I figured as much, because when I disabled the external cache in the BIOS setup, I got a noticeable drop in performance.
