SoftMPU on YouTube

There's been a couple of awesome new videos released that mention SoftMPU and what it can do for you: Connecting Roland MT-32 to Sound Card by PhilsComputerLab https://youtu.be/zPBSO02BUhc LGR - Roland Sound Canvas: '90s MIDI Greatness by LazyGameReviews https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVq4rSEjgnA …

Loom has problems with faster machines, try disabling your L1 and/or L2 cache to slow the machine down. It doesn't require intelligent mode so will work fine without SoftMPU too. Yes, Princess Maker 2 requires IRQ 2/9. Companions of Xanth worked OK for me, but I only tested the non-talkie version.

So I've had great luck using SoftMPU until today when I am getting the message "Real Time Clock support not detected." Can't seem to find out what that means? Just using it with a Sound Blaster 16 card on a Compaq 486, which definitely has an RTC. Shouldn't be any TSRs that would conflict, only …

^^ Nice pickups here. I got Battlehawks 1942 myself a while back which I believe only comes in a small cardboard box? No idea if this game is good? But I'm a fan of French games in general. Love all the little extras too. http://i.imgur.com/4rjT6YQl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/z4N2Wozl.jpg http://i.imgur …

Re: Complete and total noob trying to get into DOS gaming

Welcome to Vogons! Many have tried what you are proposing, to "get into DOS gaming". Those that are not scared off immediately by extortionate eBay prices for vintage hardware, and tales of arcane compatibility problems soon disappear down the rabbit-hole known as "building a DOS gaming PC". If …

Yep I feel like I've done everything I wanted to do with retro hardware and games. Still want to put my Tandy sound card into the 5160 and move the SB Pro 2 from there to my Tandy TL/2. I have a 287XL to go into the TL/2 also. Really happy with my big box game collection although I wouldn't mind a …

Re: My Tandy 1000 SL story

Couple of things to check: - Maybe the internal video is configured to boot in MDA mode. CTRL+ALT+SHlFT+V should change between MDA and TGA mode. - Internal video uses a non-standard 225 line text mode from boot. Try MODE 200 to switch it to standard CGA text mode.

Re: So what makes a CRT a "Good" CRT?

For windows desktop work or high-res games you can't go past a Trinitron or Diamondtron, the bigger/newer the better. Had a Diamond Pro 19 for a while that was a beast until the antireflective coating started to delaminate. For older games though, it's different. The old 320x200 games look best on a …

Re: Vintage Altec Lansing speakers

I've been using these Yamaha YST-M100 speakers forever now. I think they could do with a recap but they're still rocking. As for gimmicks, they have a "3D Surround" function which does nothing but increase background noise. I think a lot of speakers of the time had something similar. http://i.imgur. …
