I second Winimage. Just make images of your floppy disks and put them back on a diskette when you need them. Think of it as an ISO for floppies.

Yep, that did it. Once the SCP-55 takes 330 and I move the internal MPU-401 to 340, it then shows it as an option in the BIOS! Interesting.

I would say Win95 is preferable to run on DOSBox, not just because its more stable, but because it's a better option for the games & hardware the emulator can support. Win95 supports the older VXD drivers which is more compatible with DOSBox. Win98 supports WDM mostly (some older VXD won't work) and …

ESET had a NOD32 for DOS which is only a few years old. They discontinued it as well, but it should be more recent than most other offerings.

If you have a wavetable board, the Aureal Vortex2 boards (SQ2500) is your best bet on PCI compatibility. However, it's FM is pretty bad, which is why I run all MIDI through my Roland daughterboard.

Didn't those external drives use all kinds of bothersome, device-specific, memory-hogging TSRs as well? And if "SCSI is sometimes a little troublesome", wouldn't "avoiding potential problems and complexity" suggest that SCSI should be avoided too? Unless of course, you consider that some of the fun …

Most people here got it right. I remember it was around 8x that was reliable for CDR and in some cases you need upwards of a 24x or 32x for some CDRW media.

I am testing my Libretto 110CT Is it possible to turn off the MPU401? In the BIOS there are not choices, 330h only. I have a SCP-55 and when I installed it, Windows gave it 1330h address, which is not great for Dos games. I bought both a Libretto 100CT and Roland SCP-55 to create my own little …
