so a few nice hardware items popped up on ebay. all really sought after pieces but the guy has got 0 feedback. what makes it worse is the prices are too good to be true buy-it-now. one day into the auction one expensive item that was already at half price got its price halved again! reeks of scam …

Sound Blaster 16 (CT-1750) is a loud noisy card. Sound Blaster 16 (CT-2940) is a relatively quiet card. Very evident in Ultima 7 (the black gate and serpent isle) or even to a lesser extent Day of the Tentacle during speech! (usually when speech commences)

PC version of Desert Strike. Put in a few hours last night. AWE64+Sound Canvas. When I choose Roland for music it crashes hard unless SoftMPU is loaded. Works great with SoftMPU.

yeah I'd always put a heatsink and fan on a 486 chip. they can get pretty damn hot. DX2-66 can get really hot too. I got an instant white blister many years ago from an intel overdrive DX4-100 when I touched it for like one second - those things get really freakin hot even with that big ass built in …
