A SB16 of some kind and a Yamaha DB50XG if I was stuck with only one card. That setup is pretty much what I used for most of my DOS gaming back in the day (I had used a Reveal Ensoniq and other Reveal cards before that). I do kind of like the SBPro 2 for earlier games.

Aureal made their own cards with optical output if you need that. The diamond MX300 had coax digital output but you needed to buy the cable for it. The MX300 also has a wavetable connection if that matters.

Anything modern "untested" could very well means tested as dead, sold as is. How many people still have working AGP machines these days? Not many outside of collectors.

There are the CPU upgrades that plug into the CPU socket like the Kingston upgrades listed above, and there are MCA cards (386) that plug into a MCA slot and take over the system made my McMaster or MicroMaster whatever they are called.
