I can answer this one for you: yes. DLLs are just program extensions, it all depends what their calls are and possibly what language they were originally written in.

.... compatibility system in Windows is for WINDOWS PROGRAMS ONLY. Setting it to anything for DOS programs is foolish.

Didn't it use Miles Sound System? Or if not, can't you steal drivers from the other Tex adventures? (I'll never understand why Access didn't use the same basic engine for all their games, they're all so similar..)

does 4 support the javascript:alert() function? If so, you should do a browser check and if it is a certain browser, tell the user to come back with a good browser. (oy! vBulletin is screwing with formatting options behind my back! I didn't put that space in there)
