Virtual PC is never going to work very well. I've only touched it a couple times, maybe someone else has a suggestion, but it's a pretty mediocre piece of software as far as actually working is concerned. You might even have better luck with Bochs, heh.

I think I'll be using #3 as you can see. The scanlines were just too annoying to try to deal with fading out smoothly on the Y axis. (The background symbol won't be as light as it is in the mockup, I did a cheap hack to get it in there which made it not use soft light for that layer.)
