I've had a similar problem with Discworld 2, which Vlad thought could be a DC bias adjustment problem, but I think that's rubbish. Still I don't know what causes it and DiskWriter didn't want to work.

VDMSound is for DOS GAMES ONLY. Of course it won't work with the Windows interpreter!!

If there wasn't that action aspect I wouldn't really see that much of a problem, except for the fact that there is no mouse look, which bites. I liked how the second had a toggle between interface mouse mode and mouse look mode.

I hope you're referring to this DOSBox ... In any case, are you sure you installed the updated sound driver and were running the game by right-clicking and choosing "Run with VDMS"? ScummVM is an entirely different interpreter for the games. It is native Win32 code and will work better than the original EXEs in most, if not all, cases.

Fisu, you tried running it with Win95 compatibility mode in the ACT right? Also, if you change your window into 640x480 there is no top menu bar. The DOS versions of all the games that have Windows interpreters also had the black cursors, BTW. 😀
