You can't, really, without a lot of hard work. Not for non-tweakers. VirtualPC/VMWare will not work. At least, not well.

Not Worth It. LAME still locks up my computer hard. I notice no performance or aural gain, and despite choosing "Platinum" in the installer, I don't have any control or I/O from my breakout box.

Worst Idea Ever. Diskette drives are still essential for lots of things, and CDs are often overkill for small files. For example, why would I wait 2 minutes for lead-in and lead-out on a CD for a 5kB text file when I could put it on a diskette in under a second? Also, you need a diskette drive for …

I know that having slaves makes it slower, but 70MB/minute?! no. The IBMs are ATA/100 and the Maxtors ATA/133. You can disable onboard RAID. And, of course, all these drives are configured as masters. The speeds certainly aren't what I got from my RAID-0, but they're sufficient.

So, you Deleted RBPREFS.DAT Started Red Baron Alt+Tab'd out of Red Baron while it was running Turned on the Read-Only attribute of RBPREFS.DAT ? If you don't have sound to begin with, this won't fix it.
