Re: Herekiet -DosBox 386 protected mode

in PC Emulation
I don't see subchannels being a necessity for DOSBox... AFAIK, no DOS games used copy-protection that used the subchannels and I don't think there was any actual use for them outside of copy-protection. Then again, I'm probably wrong, but I haven't seen them being used for anything else.

Your driver version can be found by going to Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced and is on one of those tabs. (I'm on my laptop which has an ATi card in it so I can't tell you the exact name of the tab, but I know it has the nVidia logo on it.) Chances are, if the software you say you …

Re: Using 3DFX mode on Incubation

That is the weirdest message I've ever seen. Glide and DirectX are completely different APIs. There should be no reason to need to restart with any version of DirectX. Have you tried the Application Compatibility Toolkit? I think it has an option to 'fake' the version of DirectX -- that might be …

Re: Screamer 1 (aka >>Bleifuss<< in Germany)

Interesting -- that CD audio problem sounds very similar to what I experience with Return to Zork on my machine. I'm sure I or someone else has asked this before, but would it be possible to have a DOS > Windows CD audio command mapper? Thinking briefly, CITY2000: London had a small program called " …

Sorry mate, that is beyond the scope of this board (and beyond the scope of the PocketPC's ability). That said, I'll leave this thread open in the off-chance that someone can prove me wrong.

Re: Using 3DFX mode on Incubation

There are some really stupid games that can only work with a Voodoo or Voodoo^2 card. Not working with OpenGLide, however, is weird. From the message you got, though, it sounds like it's using DirectX, not Glide. 3dfx video cards WILL have problems with modern APIs such as DX. Not sure what to tell …

Re: blood 3dfx and .ini

Either your video card doesn't support VESA, or 3DFX.EXE doesn't support video mode switching or 3DFX.EXE took out the videos. In any case I don't think it's anything that GliDOS can fix, but Paul can certainly look into it.
