Everything will look wrong on nearly all 1280x1024 scaled LCDs because they have the wrong aspect ratio! Death to VESA, who decided on this mode instead of 1280x960 years ago! (I want a 19" 1280x960 LCD dammit. Grumble.)

You are missing the DirectX image transformation dll (dxtmsft.dll), which should exist in your SYSTEM32 directory, or it is not registered with the system (regsvr32 dxtmsft.dll). I have only seen this problem once, and it was on a system that was also missing explorer.exe and a couple other …
