Quake 3 with low quality at 640x480 does not a gaming rig make. 😉 Quake 3 was remarkably well-designed and very forgiving on old hardware. GliDOS, while well-designed, is not. 😀

It should not sound normal with dxdiag, since dxdiag uses General MIDI which is different from MT-32 MIDI. You probably don't have the preferred MIDI device selected correctly in your Multimedia Control Panel.

You'll probably want to upgrade to 66.93, they do have several 'notable' fixes. However, I had run 61.77 for many many months (it was released in the summer).

If you have good firewall software and are using not Internet Explorer, you should be fine without installing it. I myself am not installing it because I do not wish to fuck about with the stupid TCP/IP stack which they limited to 5 opening connections.
