A used Audigy 2 ZX Platinum. For $20 you should expect to get the 5.25 bay thingy as well as a flawless card. It seems others agree 😀

It seems Doom 3 does support dual cores. There are PCI-E versions of the FX line, PCX 5300, PCX 5750, PCX 5900 and PCX 5950. People who wants to play this on modern systems could perhaps also use Quadro PCI-E cards from the Geforce FX generation? They would have the same bugs as the FX 5xx0 I guess but with luck they should work better …

The CPU scaling could be different with different GPU architectures or as you said dual core could play a part, especially with an updated Doom 3 install. I just remembered that I use 43.45 with a Geforce2 MX 400 in my K2+@570 system. The driver has been working flawlessly with everything I have tried so far except Unreal. I diddnt bother to investigate.

Well this thread seems to be about the best driver for a ti4600 in XP. In Windows 98 I think I use 30.xx for DX7 Nvidia cards.
