OEMs are fine but with all your modifications I recommend sticking with a self built generic model. I like OEMs because they are extremely well documented / dependable. But most dislike them because they are not flexible with regards to modification / overclocking. Have fun!

1: You need to be able to disable the MOBO IDE controller. 2: IDE is IDE. Brands do not matter. I recommend a cheap ISA I/O card with IDE/FDD and so on.

Tried 2X 8MB IBM proprietary SIMMs in my 325T today. They do not work. I guess they only work in a PS/2 40SX. 🙁 And I played a game of Age of Empires II HD - The Forgotten today. Today I am ranked #559 out of 350,000.

I prefer hardware MPUs and I exclusively use the MIF-IPC-A (replica) with a MPU-401 BOB. This way I can very easily switch to MT-32/SC-55ST by just switching the 25PIN cable from one PC to the other. Take some pictures and show us. Check whether you can disable the IDE on the MOBO. If not you will have to go SCSI after all. I have an IBM PS/1 with SCSI because of that reason and no FDD.

Yesterday I pulled 2 VGA cards from an IBM PS/ValuePoint 325 and IBM PS/1 Consultant that have VGA on the MOBO. I had other plans but I then played Age of Empires II HD again instead. Won a cool long war. 🤣 My 80286 has one 72PIN SIMM slot that now has 8MB RAM in it.
