nukeykt, ESS Solo-1 has hardware FM synthesis. Here's a screenshot of the FM port settings in device manager.

I cannot hear a difference between the 3 sound cards I recorded from. I ran the program under Windows 98 SE command.com

Thanks Wohlstand. The fat2.op3 exported as unix 2 op sounds very close to Win98SE FM driver. Fat4.op3 exported skips a lot but that is probably because there's not enough polyphony.

Use the Audiotrix 3d-XG MS-DOS drivers in MS-DOS. What is your set blaster line in autoexec.bat and make sure it matches the sound card in device manager.

Thanks Wohlstand. Is there a way to save a 4op instrument as a 60 byte sbi file? Right now it saves as 2op 52 byte sbi file.

ADLMIDI sounds different compared to OPL3Windows, because it has reverb applied. midiplay from libadlmidi sounds more authentic because it has no reverb, but the -w option for writing wav doesn't work. PGE MusPlay for Win32 from the middle of this page https://github.com/Wohlstand/libADLMIDI is a …

I zeroed out 002.wav and 013.wav in a hex editor, copied the ULTRASND folder and used setsound.exe to enable Gravis Ultrasound, but there is no audio at the title screen now. How do I hear the GUS midi music?

CMI 8738 supports a3d v1 using Sensaura tech. But there is no hardware acceleration on these cards for 3d audio.

Yes, EAX will work on older games but you have to download Alchemy from Creative's web site.

Install the vortex2 first and create 2 hardware profiles, one called Vortex2 and the other SBLive. Boot into both hardware profiles and disable the Vortex2 sound card in device manager. Backup the a3d.dll from c:\windows\system to the desktop in a folder called a3d\vortex2. Install the SBLive and …

I have an M-Audio DiO 2448, which is one of the few CMI 8738 cards which can output FM through SPDIF.
