On the fence about tearing this monitor open to fix the cables or to get the dell monitor my friend wyatt has. My father is certified to fix CRT's so yeah.. Also, getting a FDD for this IBM PS/2. More later.

I'd try an Athlon 1.33GHz probably a VIA-VT82C686B chipset, because it supports AGP 4x and DDR or, if you're not going to do late 90's 3D I would go with a 440BX or 430TX.

Since everyone is talking about choosing a better CPU, I would get an Athlon Slot/Socket A Something in the 600-1000MHz range sounds good. Also, go with a ATi/early NVIDIA card. Either an 7000VE or a TNT2. I recommend the 7000VE, worked well for what I do with it on my 533MHz K62
