Re: VGA Capture Thread

The Datapath E1S is a proper 4:4:4 RGB capable frame grabber. You want to avoid chroma subsampling as much as you can in your processing chain as every conversion step will result in further degradation of color. You also have to deal with potential errors from color space conversions between RGB …

Re: New sound card project: AWE64 Legacy

OPL integrated into the main chip is output over spdif, only discrete opl is not. AFAIK, if OPL is integrated into main chip it is necessarily CQM . Only on awe64, on awe32, at least the 2760, 3900 and 3980 have chip integrated opl, which is why they are such Cadillacs of sound cards :) Ah, after …

Re: New sound card project: AWE64 Legacy

I have a few questions regarding how SPDIF works on the AWE Legacy . Does in work under DOS ? Is everything re-sampled to 44.1 KHz ? Is the YMF262 signal present on the SPDIF output ? Incidentally, is the YMF262's output received as digital or analogue ?

Re: Setup for recording (DOS) audio

Alright, that's pretty unanimous :D I do happen to have a Firewire port on my main PC (built in 2011). I've never used it though but I'll check how Linux (main OS) responds if I try to read from it. But if it works it might be a nice option. I'm used to patching and compiling sources so I guess I …

Re: X2GU : New GM bank for DreamBlaster X2

X2 with Buran soundbank sounds really pleasant to my ears on everything I've tried . I have a SAM9733 based 4MB GS monster MIDI and, IMHO, the X2 blows it away . X2/X3 with Buran made me pack up and shelf my Sound Canvas. I still like my SC-88's specific character in Duke Nukem 3D too much to do …

Re: Setup for recording (DOS) audio

If you have a firewire (IEEE394) equipped PC, you can get cheap external pro audio "cards" for it from local pawn shops . These things being discontinued (firewire is pretty much dead) and useless to most people makes them extra affordable. Just make sure your OS of choice supports it (some of this …
