Re: Collecting rants

There are also those collectors who have no intention of proposing a side deal but message the seller out of spite: "The item you just sold for $30 is worth $250." The seller then has to decide if they will honor the original deal, and they do sometimes back out, as people have experienced. I have …

Re: Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

What do you think has better performance on for a 100MHz FSB board, a Tualatin Celeron 1.4 or the P3-S @ 1050MHz? I'm not sure which one to buy. The P3 will be nice if I ever upgrade to a 133MHz board and maybe running it at 100MHz (+ undervolt?) will mean a lower TDP than the Celeron. I already …

Re: Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

I'll just say this: oof! Good luck, I've sold my Ms6905 MASTER, and really regret doing that, as it is easily moddable for Palpatine! If worse comes to worse, I could probably just order a modded Tualatin 1400 512K from the dude in Korea and use it with my Asus Coppermine slotket . That could be an …

Re: Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

Seventeen minutes of Prime95 on the Tualatin 512K passed by without issue . I tried cleaning the contacts on the PowerLeap and also tried a Tualeron 1300 I managed to find on the PowerLeap and, with both Tualatin CPUs, I get the same bogus temp and voltage values . I put back the Coppermine and CPU …

Re: Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

The 512K PIII-S chips are much harder on aging VRMs than Coppermine and even Tualatin-256 chips. I had the exact problem with an Abit Coppermine board years ago. It worked fine with Coppermine chips, even at 150MHz FSB. It could also run a PIII-1200 and Celeron-1400 (both Tualatin-256) fully stable …

Re: Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

I have put back the Coppermine 1000EB on Asus Slotket and everything is stable again. The only recent modification to the system, other than the CPU change was the Promise Ultra133 TX2 . I had previously been running a SIL3114 with no issues and then a Promise SATA150 which died (which is why I had …

[SOLVED] Asus P3B-F 1.03 with PowerLeap IP3/T and 1.4GHz 512K Tualatin very unstable/intermittent POST .

Subject resumes it clearly. What I am looking for is suggestions before I dig out one of my Biostar M6TBD boards (which worked fine with same PowerLeap adapter but different 1.4GHz Tualatin 512K) for a test . Here is some more info : -PSU is known good Enermax EG465VE-P -All tests are at 100Mhz FSB …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

The menu looks the same with me. But as I wrote, changing these options does nothing. The image is still cut off. The "SIZE" setting has nothing to do with it, because it is only an adjustment of something like aspect ratio/image aspect ratio. "OUTPUT" is only a digital output image resolution that …

Re: PS/2 Keyboard Cable

Ah no I mean I'll ignore the PS/2 port and use a USB to PS/2 adapter on the keyboard's USB cable to allow me to connect it to the KVM. That's what I meant too. The keyboard will likely not work with a common USB to to PS/2 adapter because the USB keyboard mechanism and internal PS/2 to USB adapter …

Re: PS/2 Keyboard Cable

Ah well that's probably what it is! Thanks folks! Hopefully a USB to PS/2 connector will work and I can still use the KVM. Pretty certain a standard passive USB to PS/2 adapter will not work . If that is a PS/2 mouse port, that means the keyboard has an active PS/2 to USB converter for the mouse …

Re: Collecting rants

I always thought that auctions that had ended were not a problem, but my understanding may be incorrect. I must admit that I had not considered the scenario described by boxpressed . One way around that issue when, for example, discussing availability or pricing of a type item would be to make sure …
