AFAIK, for PCI Sound Blasters : a) Live Drive and Audigy 1 Drive are interchangeable . b) Audigy 2 drive and X-FI drive are interchangeable . Categories a) and b) are not interchangeable . I have personally tested b) .

I have seen CD based Windows 95, Windows 98 SE and Windows XP retail media with COA , product key and sometimes even in original packaging in thrift stores . This is probably the least expensive legal route for those, if you are lucky enough to find what you want .

I have found retail copies on eBay of Windows 3.1 in big box PC form. What I'm not sure of is what the limitations are in installing it on a retro PC build. For instance, you'd need a copy of MS DOS 5+ to install it. One idea I had was to install it on FreeDOS using JEMU386 support. This stuff is …

If OP does get a replacement socket 1366 board, I suggest avoiding the Asus P6X58D Premium . It has a failure mode (not related to socket) that looks just like bad RAM, but is actually the board itself failing somehow . I got hit with that issue and found that it was a rather common one for this …
