Re: Your speaker and headphone system(s)

Hehe, with Valve/Steam, it surely wouldn't be the FIRST time LOL! Yeah, there is *that* detail... :blah: By the "new" CS, I'm assuming that you're referring to CS Source and CS Global Offensive? I dont' own those games (not enough PC "OOMMPH" LOL!) but my friends do. From what I've seen on their …

Re: Ultimate Socket 754 AMD System

Really looks to be the case. Sorry to see that rick6! :depressed: Out of curiosity (before we entirely write this card off for recycling): does it do this on both video outputs? (or all three, if it has a TV output as well) And is this connected via DVI or VGA? Does switching from DVI to VGA change …

Re: Games you played on obsolete hardware

I had two GeForce FX cards (FX 5200 and later 5900) when they were current-tech - lots of DX9 games at 640x480 or 800x600 at a BLISTERING 20-40 fps with low IQ. :dead: I remember the first time I saw Half-Life 2 on "good" hardware (a GeForce 6800 Ultra) - it was a different game. That's …

Re: Ultimate Socket 754 AMD System

It's a pretty sure bet that it's a dead GPU Jim. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo27/STC_24/StarTrekTheOriginalSeriesHesDeadJim.gif Really looks to be the case. Sorry to see that rick6! :depressed: Out of curiosity (before we entirely write this card off for recycling): does it do this on both …

Re: Your speaker and headphone system(s)

I'm not sure if this is the "norm", but unless I enable EAX for my SBLive in the GoldSource games (like I posted previously, the pre-update 2009 versions of the games) the games are only in 2-channel stereo. There is also an option (that was removed by Valve as well) for A3D, but this always locked …

Re: FX 8320 temps

I don't think this is a question of "accuracy" so much as "understandability" - the FX is seemingly doing what it's supposed to do, it just isn't doing it in a way that makes sense to users (or any other group of humans ). One thing I would add though - do you have any sort of airflow for the …

Re: Your speaker and headphone system(s)

Thanks for the detailed explaination for that :) Yeah, I was already semi-familiar with that, but the thing is; Valve totally removed the options for EAX in the sound options menu with their early-last-year updates to all of the GoldSource games, and I have an SBLive running under Windows XP. So …

Re: FX 8320 temps

I wouldn't worry about it too much - remember, CPU diodes aren't really paragons of accuracy, they're just "good enough" to kick in and prevent thermal runaway. As long as that isn't happening, and the cooler is in working order, you should be good to go.

Re: This PC had me scratching my head

Very odd indeed - I can also see why "Kanji" isn't going to return any results (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji). Does the PSU have the "bottom" fan per bestemor's idea, or is there even a cutout for front intake like that? And somewhat unrelated, what graphics card is that? 😵

Re: Blinkenlights

I think you'd probably have to have programmable logic of some sort to do individual activity sets for each CPU core. USB would probably be the easiest for modern stuff, but I'm not sure on specifics of how you'd implement it. A quick search for completed projects and I found this: https://mrevil. …

Re: Your speaker and headphone system(s)

rfnagel: I think only two of your pictures are properly showing for me; not sure if others are having that problem. Hmmmm... that's a weird one (?). Can you see the pic if you click on the "01_Large_Reveal_40_Watt_Speakers.jpg" link in my previous post ( http://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id= …

Re: This PC had me scratching my head

First thing I thought of was how some audio equipment has "bumpers" to prevent pushing it so far back to the wall as to damage connectors. Having it standing up is certainly unique, but it isn't the only case I've seen with the front PSU (Lian-Li has made a few cases with the PSU in the front-bottom …
