The two fastest cards I have tried, that still retained the best compatibillity, are both Medion branded. One is the GF4-ti4200 and the other is a Radeon9800-XXL. So maybe the CL-GD5446 is best for 486 and slow Pentium systems where you won't be gaming in SVGA anyway. Newer, faster DOS systems (fast Pentiums/MMX and higher) might be better suited with a Voodoo3, Banshee or TNT, where old game compatibility isn't an issue and VESA modes are built into the …

I vote for the CL-5446 too. Though I have not tested high res modes on this card. Secondly I vote for an S3 trio64 (something with + and v) card. As they are more or less equal in speed on a 486 class system. For pentium systems I have no clue. The reason for me voting for the 5446 over the S3, is …

True.... SLI needs more CPU power. Shure it can work, he will just not get full advantage at all. For 166 to 233mhz Pentium-1 system's, a single V2 is enough. We used to run 486dx2-66's with 8mb Ram as mid range, back in 1995. I remember Pentium's being too expensive at that time for the average person.

What I used, and found to be the most easy connectors to work with, was from old floppycables that have connectors for 5.25 drives too. Bought parts for the possible cheapest external midi device in excistance. (Only 14.51 US Dollars) So cheap and compact, that it would be stupid not to explore it for the sound quality. It is however a 50% diy thing, so I might be buying an case for it in the future. It all depends.

I came here because of driver issues with SB-Live on ICH7 using MS-Dos-6.22. (or something like that, do no really remember that clearly) On the first post on Vogons, I think I have searched that after sniffing out that it all started on another forum.
