I still use a passive cooler on my DX33. It is running hot, and it's old, vintage and I will better be safe than sorry.

Yeah.... 5446 for the win. 😁 I actually have two 5446's with 2mb 60ns each. 😜 Looking at eBay that usually are extreme in prices, I guess the 5446 gives lot of Bang for the bucks. They are like somewhat between 17 to 20 US Dollars each, plus shipping. Great value for the money.

Swapped the Trident 9000 ISA card in my 286, for a CL-5424 ISA. This took away 70/80% of the ugly vertical spaghetti lines on my monitor. Things are now playable, just not perfect as in no lines.... (Was about to throw meatballs at the monitor, making it a nice italian dish)

Is this a fault or result of local RF regulations ? I heard rumors about VGA signals beeing artificially limited because of radio regulations. I dont know if it is a regulation thingy or something. For what I know, this is a result of the monitor not being completely compatible with the VGA signal …

If you look at my picture the DIPs are set to OFF OFF OFF OFF which is the VGA configuration. If you doubt the settings plug a EGA Monitor and change DIPs to EGA config. If you get signal then this DIP config is working as well. Be aware that some cards feature EGA/VGA monitor auto detection, so …

Running a Dx2-66 in a non-Dx2 system, might make it post. Though you will only run it as an Dx-33. And as others are saying, go for something late-era gfx card. On the ISA types, you can not really go wrong on the ET4000 ones. Cirrus Logic cards that are ISA only, I really do not know what exact …

Seems like a fairly common 3000 card. Just a shame that I can not find documentation on them dip switches. One jumper is for IRQ selection. No question about that. Yet the rest! Hmmm....
