The difference with a Voodoo 1 is you can get about 40 fps on this one in Quake, with a light overclocking in a batch file. I don't think it's possible with an Ati.

I had a Ati Xpert Play PCI with a 233 MMX, Quake 1 kinda worked. Maybe at 20/25 fps, difficult to remember. Same card as the Xpert Work, but with TV out. I think it was a Rage Pro. With the usual Ati OpenGL defects , all particles are squarred 😀 Adding a Voodoo1 was a great improvement.

The slowest machine I used with a PS/2 mouse was a Pentium 75 / 64 Mo ram. It was a dedicated gateway/firewall when I was sysadmin in 1999/2002, of course Debian. Never had any problem with PS/2. Here we are speaking about archeology 😀

Fun fact, this problem of "jumpy" PS/2 mouse exist also in old versions of Linux. You have to select IMPS2. Also on FreeBSD. /dev/sysmouse is sometimes a bit obscure to understand.

I don't have a retro machine for now. My oldest is a P2 333 ... Which is quite "new", seeing the standards on this forum. Maybe a PS/2 is more cpu dependant ? No idea. I prefer the feeling of a PS/2 mouse. Sampling is usually faster for the data, and it's way more smooth to use.

Does it run well on your computer ? I tried it on a Pentium 2 333MHz, 3DFX and FreeDOS. The game itself runs well, but each time it needs to load a texture the access to the hard disk is so slow it's unusable. BTW I didn't manage to get any udma driver work.
