The 9700 looks good, but I can't help but notice a little discoloration around those MOSFETs on the 9800. You definitely need to get some better cooling on it, for the sake of preservation. You can read about the Medion's cooling not being up to scratch from here . A lot of people made bad ATi cards …

I'd say the more, the merrier and I believe he will share my sentiments. I think you AXP-2500-M is probably one of the fastest, if not the fastest Voodoo 5 machine you can build.

I did look at it actually, but it's a pity you only ran those benchmarks once, I would've liked to have a collection of at least 20-30 iterations of every benchmark, but I know this is time consuming, which is why I'm opting for a more meta-analysis type of approach.

I just thought of something, the 9800XXL you have, is the cooling on it still in good condition? You might need to replace it with one of those Zalman knock-off VGA coolers. Just note that you have to change the connector wires somewhat. The VRMs (or MOSFETs) are also not cooled very well, you could …

I was reading this article by SPCR and their tests showed that a Pentium D 950 + Radeon X1950 drew a maximum of 298W from the wall during their PCMark05 benchmark. This could actually work... But long-term wise I do agree that you'd want a power supply that delivers at least 300W-350W on the 12V …

On a completely unrelated note, why do you want to run a Radeon 9800XT on a Socket 7 board? Those platforms have horrendous AGP performance and it'll probably be more effort than its worth.
