The XTIDE BIOS needs to be mapped in the area that the motherboard BIOS scans at POST for extensions, typically 0xc8000 to 0xf7fff. Resumed work on my custom expansion PCB to add memory and IO capabilities to the Z80-in-a-FPGA that I have been playing with so I can turn it into a full-blown CP/M machine. Previously interrupted because some SRAM chips took an eternity and a half to arrive from China.

TBH while the Virge is useful for DOS stuff, I remember it as being pretty awful for OpenGL or DirectX stuff. The original VGA Decelerator. 😀

TBH you can get complete G4 and G5 macs for next to nothing these days. In the past 6 months I got a G4 (quicksilver) for $40 shipped, and a G5 for the same price (local pickup because it's a big heavy beast and shipping would be a killer).

$8 shipped. I got lucky on this one, all right. Now I just need something to feed it that's faster than my BP6 with dual Celeron 533s; nothing else I have has a compatible AGP slot and Unreal Engine 1 games demand at least a 1 GHz CPU to keep the framerates up above 60 FPS. http://i.imgur.com/ …

Back in the day I have used my C300A (OC to 450) with a variety of cards, the top one being a TNT2. It's interesting to see that a Rage 128 (Fury) Pro is on par and even beats the TNT2 in most of those graphs.

Probably a cost-saving measure. With the side effect that the audio output is probably significantly smaller that with the TEA2025.
