You can check out the A3D room / demos on my channel. Just make sure you disable any FX processing in your sound drive, like SBX, CMSS-3D and all of that 😀

I read on an old Anandtech review that ATI had lots of issues with the Rage cards and Super Socket 7 platform.

Unreal S3 Savage4 MeTaL S3TC Gameplay Looks impressive for 1998 technology. The game skips every now and then / rubber-banding, but otherwise holds a stable frame rate of 30+ FPS. The S3TC textures look nice, though not every texture got a facelift.

This testing might be easier on an old PC? There might be too many other variables in play with modern software and equipment. It seems the GOG version is the way to go then, with your method enable EAX and have the bonus levels. In this other thread I installed the CD game, then patched it and …

Yes it should output the same signal to both channels. Does moving the headphone jack around make it work? Or the volume dial?

UPDATE: things are getting much better now; I switched from the 3512a to the 3112 with the same WDC not-ssd disk (16MB cache, 250GB) and now Atto benchmark give 56MB/S of write and 85MB/s of read! Nice :) Would you be so kind and upload the driver and BIOS you are using? And a picture of your card …

A 486 is always something special :) For the power switches, in the end I used one of these 3.5" to 5.25" bay devices. On the sides there is some space and I just drilled two holes and put switches in. One for power, one for turbo :blush: You can do the same thing with a read slot cover, but then …

Elianda, I got a request please. Is it possible to implement a tick box, or toggle button that sets the black level to standard levels, at the cost of noise? I keep forgetting to change the gain manually and I have to re-do captures 😊

I would be surprised if it's on GTX960 level, I think it will end up just below GTX950, but we will see.

That is true. Slowest card is the 950, but that card still costs just under A$ 200 over here. The cheaper cards are all 730 cards or similar. No 940 or 930. I'm not quite sure why, are onboard graphics that good these days?

There are a few existing threads on Splinter Cell. It's been a while so my memory is a bit foggy. I have the CD, GOG and Steam versions, also the Mission CD upgrade disc. I looked into the EAX issue once, and wrote about it, but try finding that post 😊

That board should be just fine. Intel made conservative boards, very stable, hardly any BIOS features and no overclocking at all.

I've had a portable AC before. Hose goes out the window, they work well, but the compressor being inside, they make quite some noise 😀 Can't think of anything better though that can be easily packed away and moved like it.

Just the way that room is, not much I can do... I'm not going to stick to a weekly schedule anymore, sometimes a project takes me just a bit longer and I don't want to have that time pressure. Other times it just takes me a day or two 😀 So basically, I'll publish stuff when it's done 😀
