Just run older software. You don't need the latest and greatest to accomplish many tasks. An old copy of office will do just fine 😀

I use these camping type tables with folding legs. They can be had in extra long version as well. Because you're using KVM and 2 screens, it should fit easily. But two desktops on-top of each other or something like that.

I got all my DOS / 9x stuff years ago. These days prices are very extreme. I think I would just go for a ready-to-go system, likely an OEM machine that is easily overlooked. Then just add the sound cards. Finding all the nice parts these days can be quite costly or you got to wait for a good price. …

This KB article confirms what you say: The ScanDisk tool included with Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98 is a 16-bit program. CF do work fine under Windows 98 😀 Wear and tear might be an issue, I don't think I've used a CF card long enough to make any comment in that regard. Personally I like to use CF for pure DOS and for Windows 98 SATA drives with SATA to IDE converters.

Scandisk being a 16 bit application, I think it doesn't go past 64 GB? But not 100% sure.

The good thing about DOS is that you can just copy the folders. How are you organising your games? I have C:\GAMES and then folders for developers like SIERRA, ORIGIN and their games inside those folders. I'm sure GK2 can be copied onto a DVD and launched from C: Sierra is awesome with the RESOURCE. …

Well that game uses lots of real video footage. It either came on several CDs or a single DVD. You just got to use a more modern DOS, like 7.1 or FreeDOS that supports 120GB partitions and higher (for FreeDOS). It's actually nice to play these games CD-less. You just unpack the driver to somewhere on your Windows 98 machine. You can get the driver from here: http://www.philscomputerlab.com/aureal-vortex-2.html or from the VOGONS driver archive. Then you go to device manager and update the drivers.

Never used in under XP, there are much better cards for that. Vortex 2 is all about A3D which are Windows 9x era games.
