Not sure, I haven't flashed one yet. At the moment I am happy with the 1.4 MB support, I'm not using it with other home computers for example. What are you going to use yours for?

Try running them from DOS, not Windows. What machine are you using? What memory configuration?

I also use SATA hard drives with Pentium 4 machines. Just got to pick the correct BIOS options, sometimes it's called legacy or compatibility vs. enhanced. For optical drive I stick with IDE, because of the analogue audio out as mentioned.
