What drive do you have? WD has a free alignment tool. Never used, so if you have a WD, here's your chance :) Paragon, or some other mob, sells an alignment tool. Not really. However, and this depends on the motherboard, on an i7 or i5 you can just disable cores in the BIOS and do all sorts of testing. I found a second core to give a very solid boost in games such as Doom 3, FEAR and Far Cry. This was also on a modern platform like yours.

The Blaster variable seems fine. In device manager, there should be a device named Sound Blaster emulation. Try Doom shareware, easy to find. Run setup and configure music and sound for Sound Blaster. See if that works.

Can you take a screenshot of the resources in device manager? What is the SET BLASTER varible set? Do you have Sound Blaster Emulation installed? Have you tried running DOS games from within Windows first, rather than running MS-DOS mode?

Wouldn't mean much as it depends a lot on the processor. The XXL is somewhere between the 9800 and 9800 Pro I believe. At least it's not a gimped LE, SE version 😀

I use Unreal to test the card as it's a native Glide game. The GOG version runs from a folder / network share, so it's a quick test.
