Yep, I put it to secondary, put both jumpers on the card to primary. Also the hdd controller on the motherboard is on secondary too.

I had a gateway p3 733, 256 mb ram, integrated video, and all that (until I gave it away). It ran windows 98se great, and all the older games I threw at it worked great too.

I took a picture of my pc booting up. I think the bios is different from the setup utility, they have different version numbers. I am not sure how to get into the bios with a key. I tried f2, and just about every function key, but it will say "keyboard stuck key". http://i57.tinypic.com/25qvpd3.jpg

My main PC is nothing special, just a core 2 duo I got for free from a friend. It was real dusty and missing the HDD. I disassembled it, blasted the case w/ compressed air and threw in a sata laptop hdd from an old vista laptop, and it runs like a dream, not too loud, not too quiet. A lot quieter …

We used to share a vista laptop, it was slow and by the time it died there were keys missing and the dvd drives faceplate was gone, etc. That dell was built like a friggin tank.

Is the bios the same as the setup? The setup does not have a lot of options. I can't get this machine to boot from the card. I'll keep thinking, and use the old trial and error method. Hopefully I can get it to work soon!

I'll try it upside down but now the thing is having issues. The light on the volume knob flashes and the thing pops on and off. Fuse looks fine. Wtf??

Well I think I may be getting somewhere. I tried a diff IDE cable and the hdd indicator light was on. There are only a few jumpers on the maxtor card. One is Jp5, I'm gonna mess with that jumper and see what happens.
