Re: System Shock SVGA problems

in DOS
Originally posted by Mok Who said anything about compiling? Ok, I guess I'm guilty of not properly reading the post. I didn't think the executable could be patched like that. I figured changing a dos-extender would "break" the executable.

Re: Rama

You didn't specify which CD, so I included both (even though they are almost certainly exactly alike). I'm suspicious that this may one of Sierra's false file errors (like the one I got while testing "Freddy Pharcus").

Re: Exiting DOS games causes computer to go to sleep

You might be able to clear the video problem by forcing a video mode change. That's kind of hard to when you're "blind", so you'll have to find a trick or work-around. Try this: Get a Windows 9x executable, create a (new) shortcut for it. Right-click the shortcut to get it's properties, create a …

Originally posted by Mok When I forgot to replace back the Dos4gw extender in the patched System Shock executable, I though somebody will just replace it and post a new link here... now it seems, I was wrong. Well understand that most people here probably don't do much in the way of compiling. …

Originally posted by vladr Im guessing its quite simialr too VDMSound but SoundFX had Adlib emualtion whereas VDMS does not. What kind of emulation does VDMSound have then? Much better emulation. Re: Willy Beamish CD-ROM

Just so you know, I deleted your duplicate thread on this in the "Windows" forum because 1) it's a duplicate thread and 2) WB is not a Windows game, so it was in the wrong forum anyway. I don't know about this behavior, do any other DOS+VDMSound titles behave like this?

Re: Death Rally & Solar Winds

Originally posted by Unregistered I've running an ATI 9700 Pro. I'm not sure that the Radeon needs NOLFB. Have you tried running it without NOLFB? You still haven't mentioned your OS. I'm guessing Win2K or XP, but you shouldn't have to reboot just to clear your video display. Just changing video …

Re: Free Stuff!!

Dibs! Of course, I should be asking what you really have. I really don't have any cash. I have to admit I wouldn't mind it if you found an early PowerPC and were to happen to send it my way.

Re: i have no mouth i must scream?

Originally posted by Unregistered My sound and music setting are both 50%. I can see the text but no voices. MIDI has a tendency to drown out digital audio depending on your system's settings for it. Adjust your sound settings from 50% to 90 or 100%. If you still can't hear them you may be stuck. …

Re: How to make KQ5's audio to work

DosBox v.50 with KQ5 Hardly a solution, so let's just call it "progress". Also note that using a GoSierra-modified driver caused AdLib music to disappear. Using DosBox v.50 seems to allow the game, in general, to work with speech and music. The AdLib music has a slight "warble" to it, and I ran into …
