UPlay Gold version is working fine. The repack was from an old backup of a RUSSIAN installer way before Raven Shield Gold was available in UPlay store. It's a repack with "2.0" modded version included.

There's still the old problem with the configurator. The configurator *SHOWS* the MSAA set to "off" - when the config file is correctly set by default to "App Driven" - for first the application showed (not the first one in the list, the first you open the "DirectX" tab).

One obvious difference between XP's basic DirectSound and Vista+'s basic DirectSound, most sounds in Max Payne don't play in Vista+ unless converted. There's something about those WAVE files. Anyone knows? DirectSound already had basic software mixing with XP (and 2K?) in case you didn't have a …

Of course, the problem is that the splash menu launcher is a 16 bit application and it doesn't work on x64 version of Windows 😁 The "real" setup installer is a 32 bit application.

Steam release (1.12) DOES NOT have A3D support. You need the old retail version (or an ISO of it: remember to launch the real installer and NOT the CD splash menu on a Win x64 system)

Sin (original 1998 iso + patch 1.11): A3D working BUT there's a problem with the dialogues (there's NO dialogues at all) With DS dialogues are working.
