I have that board, it's a MSI 6168 from a Packard Bell Bora Pro with an onboard Voodoo 3 2000 AGP and 8MB. It also has Sounblaster 128 onboard sound. As far as I know there are two revisions. The onboard video only works with the original Packard Bell BIOS. I got a P3B-F in its original box :) …

It should definitely work afaik they only dropped support for 486ers in the linux kernel. try a different distribution apart from debian, ubuntu etc.

Great guide! I am still not done reading it 😀 3dfx users should also check on their motherboard whether it is a KT333A or a relabeled KT400 without 3.3v AGP support.

After some searching I must say chances are low 🙁 There are Socket 478/479 boards with PCI-X! There is the Supermicro P3TDE, also a Dual Tualatin 1.4 board that has AGP Pro and PCI-X.

GPUs can withstand bigger temperatures than CPUs. My GTX 480 can go up to 105°C But my Xeon E5450 starts to bake at 65°C 🤣

Well that is probably due to Windows 2000. Also the TNT should have a 128Bit Interface. 😀

I remember those topless memory modules. They where on the low-end of the memory you could buy. I had a few of those that just had a blob of black goo on top of the IC. Really crappy memory Haha, at least they look cool. :lol: I have one too! First impression? Cardboard "heatspreader" ? YUCK :lol:
