I remember when I was playing first Tomb Raider on 3Dfx Voodoo 3 in DOS i saw Antialiasing in game, and ran very smooth with my Celeron 300 without L2 which I haved that time years ago.

I have IBM ThinkCentre 8183 with Pentium IV 3.0 Prescott and 1 GB 400 Mhz Single Channel RAM, and I have i865 integrated graphics and I haved only 2703 points on 3DMark2001.

Good soundcard for PCI will be Sound Blaster Live!, that card have even good OPL emulation, so you can have good sound in Commander Keen and Wolfenstein3D, but avoid Sound Blaster 128 because that card have very bad OPL emulation.

Sound Blaster Live! will be good, when I tried that card with my Pentium IV build with GA-8IDX board I have good correct sound even in Commander Keen 4-6 and Wolfenstein 3D, and also in later games.

Can you test that Savage4 in Gothic, even with demo of that game and compare it to Riva TNT2? I tried that game with Savage4 on PCI and ran better than on Riva TNT2 PRO on my K6-2 years ago and uses with Savage less RAM, and I haved very much problems to find driver which work with that Savage4 PCI …

My first PC was AMD 286 12 Mhz with 1 MB RAM, VGA, 20 MB Harddisk Seagate MFM, without soundcard, in Hyundai case, Black-White Philips monitor. And I remember using Windows 3.1 on that, I played Commander Keen Dreams on it, I tried also Wolfenstein 3D but it only smooth in very very small window.

For Windows 2000 is good to use good fast harddisk like for Vista. On old harddisk 9 Gb which I using in my PIII600 laptop with 256 MB RAM XP SP3 was far faster than 2000, when I was using 2000 it loads far longer than XP there, Vista is like 2000 with that.
