Re: Did Police Quest 3 have voices?

The collections have always had the talkie versions where possible - King's Quest V&IV were talkie, so was Leisure Suit Larry VI and Quest For Glory 4. So I doubt III had speech and I haven't been able to find anything about it having speech from Google. Think about it though: PQ4 was released just …

Re: Demanding games for DOSBOX?

I can no longer find Wing Commander IV (damn) but Wing Commander III is smooth as butter in 3D with hi-res and all details on. There's some slight hiccups occasionally while the video is playing but I suspect that has to do with the "max" setting of the cycles which constantly change. It's a small …

Re: Demanding games for DOSBOX?

Well there's still quite a lot of games which are unstable because of a lack of CPU power for people with weaker CPUs - I used to think this was just DOSBOX not being up to it, but seeing how Bioforge went from highly unstable to very playable (same with Need For Speed SE) and some games going from …

Re: Demanding games for DOSBOX?

Okay: Hi-Octane runs brilliantly on hi-res with all details maxed out. No slowdown whatsoever, and very fluent. 25fps average which may seem low but it's very stable (even with lots of explosions) and the game feels very responsive and smooth. Roadwarrior 2, as expected, performs less well - 15- …

Re: Demanding games for DOSBOX?

I played SS on that res for at least half an hour and it was well playable. As I said, the framerate barely dropped. Some parts give a little slowdown no matter what resolution though but the game never becomes unplayably slow. Also, Redneck is the most demanding Build game next to Witchaven II. …

Re: Pandora Directive slooooooow!

First of all, 20 000 cycles is next to nothing for later DOS games like Pandora Directive. Most 3D games need 70000+. My new PC (Conroe E6600) can pull 120.000 cycles and more for a lot of games and only now they have became playable. Pandora Directive still needs to be tested, but it was a tad slow …

Re: Demanding games for DOSBOX?

Hey, I own both games so no worries ;) I already tried Skynet but that wasn't too fluent in Dynamic mode. I should try it in normal mode then? It's the only game so far thats not really playable in high detail. EDIT: okay in normal mode it runs much better - I can play it on 320x200 on high detail …

Demanding games for DOSBOX? *Conroe test*

Earlier this week I finally got the parts for my new PC, powered by the Conroe E6600 Dual Core Processor. And now i'm trying to see how well it works in DOSBOX, but I'd like to try out the high-end DOS games. So far I tested: Redneck Rampage in VESA (640x480) - 20fps average Syndicate Wars in VESA ( …

Re: privateer hangs in the ship dealer

Well that explains - you're telling me you're using files that have been changed a million time without trying a fresh install. No wonder some things stop working. ALWAYS use a fresh install before commenting on whether or not a game works. We can't possibly anticipate any bugs in a game itself that …
