Re: Aladdin sound

Okay a few things you should know: Laptops are usually not great for DOSBOX. A friend of mine has a brand new laptop which struggles to run quite a lot of games. This is because a laptop tends to have weaker CPUs compared to the PC version. For example my PIV 2.5Ghz laptop wasn't a patch for my AMD …

Compushow can't detect files?

I used to use Compushow (or Cshow) a lot back in the days when I messed around with Neopaint in DOS. Only problem is, it doesn't seem to work in DOSBOX. When i try to run the program, it complains that it can't find several required files which are in the folder. Any solution?

Re: Sound Skips

It's simple: skipping sound means your computer can't handle the speed DOSBOX is set at. Usually sound suffers first - I found that higher cycles may make a game run more fluent even if sound chops up, but it's not worth it. Just lower the cycles. Or, of course, use Dynamic mode, which can handle …

Re: Fade to Black

Oh yeah, you fixed the BRA cursor right 😜 Oh, and the game runs fine now - a little bit of noise in the movies (sound) but excellent otherwise. It even runs well in SVGA full screen at 75000 cycles (30fps average).

Re: DosBox

I'll say even more Moe: there were many different kinds of DOS. MS DOS, IBM DOS, PC DOS, etc. Of course MS DOS was best supported, but even then, DOS was only as good as its drivers. Mouse drivers, soundcards drivers, the versions of emm386.exe and himem.sys, etc. And then there's the hardware. I …

Re: Wierd sound trouble...

Moe you might do well to read his post thoroughly  His whole computer no longer plays any sound. Anyway, my two cents: DOSBOX doesn't alter Windows directly since it's not installed, no drivers, no change in the register, etc. so uninstalling or removing it will make absolutely no difference. …

Re: Need help plz (very noob to DOSBox....)

There's a few things that will almost certainly help: - Find out the number of the CD/DVD drive that has the CD - using the -usecd command you can achieve far better "emulation" and this is often what makes a game detect the CD for me. Read the readme for info on how to discover this number and the …

Small Windows 3.1 / drive letter problem

This is only a small thing, but it's kinda annoying to me: when you run Windows 3.1 and open File manager, it puts every potential drive up to Z on the bar. Is it possible to remove all the non-existing drives? I assume this is because it detects Z and fills all drives up to Z even if they don't …

Looking for a DOS menu creation program

With all the different options I have now for DOSBOX (mount iso, mount several seperate drives, etc.) it's becoming increasingly clearer that I should start having a menu instead of having to manually alter the settings each time. My old IBM 386 had a cool menu program that looked simple and I'd …
