It's very curious how the mouse speed is not affected in the game when set in dosbox.conf - it works with all other games that had a similar issue (like A Final Unity). You sure the data you enter is correct? If Dosbox can't read the info, it will go to the default value.

Just do it the easy way: copy sb.exe and dos32a.exe to the STTNG folder and run SB.exe there - the whole path thing is unnecessairy. Illegal command means DOSBOX can't find the file you're trying to run.

It's why I ALWAYS change auto to max for default - it's far more reliable and for the games that are sensitive to speed, auto is not garanteed to work anyway.

Also, not to discourage you, but a Centrino 1.6Ghz may get pushed to the limit by Dosbox so if Descent works, it may be a bit slow.

They're disks though, not CDs. How you're going to mount 3.5" disks in Daemon Tools ... 😉 Besides for CD images it's much better to use imgmount and mount all CDs at once - then you can swap between them easily without having to constantly remounting things.
