Soak the whole thing in lemon juice for a while. Then rinse with water and either let dry or dry with compressed air.

That's what I was finding as well.. so there really was 0 point to have an AMR audio riser card since the motherboard would already have the audio jacks in the rear I/O panel... now maybe if you wanted optical in/out there may have been a purpose, but other than that it would have been pointless.

We used to use the auto rear window defroster repair kits that you can get at any auto parts store. Easy to undo as well.. just not sure if you need something to actually handle any amount of power going through it or not. If it were me, I would just add the jumpers and be done with it.

post hi-res pics of the card. Kinda sound like the voltage reg that is in-line with the molex connector is bad. Could also be something as simple as a fuse or diode.. or maybe something got knocked off the board.

Doesn't seem like too bad of a price. I got one quite a while ago that I still need to do something with. The PCMCIA cards are especially hard to come by. I usually see just the chassis units for sale.

Not sure I would use grease at all. I would pop the stabilizer off and clean it and the hole it goes into. Chances are that there is just some dirt or fuzz in there and/or the plastic has worn a bit and has plastic dust in there. Either way, cleaning it should make it work fine again.

You could remove the logging checks. If it were me, I would have compiler directives defined for logging and not run-time checks.

Mash F8 before Windows starts to load.. then you can either go straight to Safe Mode or step through the boot process.
