Socket 7 coolers should work as well. Some coolers do have heavier spring action on the mounts than others. Some are indeed scary tight. I always try to use a nut driver to install the heatsinks as that way you don't have to worry about a screwdriver slipping and killing/damaging the board.

I have found drivers for both cards and uploaded them to Vogonsdrivers. Will try more running the cards. I was unable to find the drivers on Vogonsdrivers and did google search. Also have an IBM Aptiva sound card S-16WP1/L with the original wavetable daughtercard. From the research I did before buying it, it looks to basically be an Acer Magic S23A in functionality minus IDE except for the wavetable part is a daughtercard instead of built onto the board. After thinking about it more, I think I am going to use the Tropez Classic instead of one of my generic-ish Opti930 based cards in the 486 build. Reasons: 1. 2MB wavetable 2. The cheapo ones from China work just fine. Not really much to them to go bad. They pretty much all use the same chipset. You can also get PCI SATA controllers that are bootable and also have drivers for Windows 98 if you want to do that.

Sounds like the computer is too fast for it. A good number of rally old ISA cards are quite speed sensitive. Does the motherboard have a 50Mhz FSB setting? If so, you may want to try that and see if the Pentium running at 100Mhz instead of 120Mhz helps or fixes it. You can also try setting the …
