I've been wanting to get a Socket 4 board as well... If for nothing else than to test the Socket 4 CPU I received in a scrap lot a few years ago. I'm just not willing to pay the price for the motherboards when they do pop up.

I gave $25 for my K6-3+ 450. I know it will do 550 at 2.1v on a decent board. Currently running at 500 @ 2.2 on a not so decent board. Both of my K6-III+ 450 CPUs seem to do at least 600Mhz not problem. This is on an ASUS P5A-B. I have at least two of those boards. One of them will run them at …

I have both K6-2+ and K6-III+ CPUs but not sure I want to decap any of them. Do we really think that the K6-2+ and K6-III+ were the same die? Maybe I will as they are really easy to decap unless they are wildly different than decapping regular K6-2 CPUs.

I have sb-link connected with 724 and i815 board, but the IRQ and IRQ mode in setupds is greyed out. Now I can only get FM in DOS. I ran across an IDT Winchip C6 240Mhz and it is on the way now. The 200 and 225Mhz seem not that rare, but I hadn't run across the 240 before ,and from what I could find, very few were supposed to have ever been sold.

Get another ymf724 that is said have a wavetable ROM on it: Yamaha waveforce WF-192XG. This piece is manufactured by Yamaha I guess. Just wonder how the wavetable works, through mpu401? does it need drivers or it only works in windows? I use ymf 724 driver and the SB & FM both works in DOS, but …

Well, from that review you posted a link to, they look to have abysmal performance.. and that was that V8 model... I've only ever seen a single once for sale and it went for hundreds of US dollars.

DDR-3 and DDR-4 were pretty bad as far as early adopter prices go. Maybe not as bad as DDR-5, but some of that has to do with the stupid inflation that is being forced on everybody.
