It's possible that there is some fault in the hard drive, in addition to 4200RPM being very slow. Although normal for laptops of that era, most desktops were using 7200RPM drives at that time. I would try to obtain a 7200RPM drive for the laptop. It may speed it up noticeably in general.

The line should be DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM I=B000-B7FF You don't need the "4096" and make sure you actually spell B000-B7FF correctly (with zeros and not capital O's the way it looks in your message).

You need to run AWEUTIL /S to get music out of an AWE64. Your Autoexec.bat seems to be missing it.

I'm more impressed by the view from the Windows then by the game. 😀 For complete authentic experience you should, of course, position the side screens so that they are really 90 degrees to the left or right (and you kind of sit inside a cube).

Thanks for sharing. 😀 It's good to know that SATA Compatibility mode works with no issues installing Win9x. Installing XP (and I think even 2K) on this chipset also works with no problem, even with the SATA drives at "Enhanced". No drivers on floppy are needed. 😀
