Re: Laura Bow CD Speech with GOG version

See what happens if you set the audio to audio=.\ or audio=.\lb2 try it both ways success! this worked: audio=.\ by the way, what is the program you are using for your directory? I tried to find something like midnight commander for DOS, but I couldn't figure anything out. Is that available …

Re: Laura Bow CD Speech with GOG version

The big files are the speech, its important to point your resource.cfg file where they are located, make sure you format it the same way I have in my resource fille. The patchDir might be wrong, its hard to tell since I'm not sure where to check the replaced sfx, but I think it should actually be " …

Re: Laura Bow CD Speech with GOG version

Are you trying to use both speech + text? You cannot do this normally, it's only speech or only text. There is a patch for SCUMM to have both enabled and maybe this is why you have speech when using it, assuming my initial assumption was correct. Sorry, no I am just trying to use speech alone. When …

Laura Bow CD Speech with GOG version

The GOG version has the Sierra exes and runs, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it running in DOSBox with the speech. It's obviously because the CD isn't technically there, but I know the speech files must be in the directory because I can get it running with SCUMMVM and speech. I want to …

Re: Timing of 320x400 256c Tweaked VGA mode

in Marvin \ Video
Ok thanks. That's basically what I figured it should be, and it's exactly what is shown in the CRU window other than the pixel clock and horizontal being a little off, but that's not entirely controllable with CRU, it only lets you adjust one of the three frequency fields and autofills the other …

Timing of 320x400 256c Tweaked VGA mode

in Marvin \ Video
I need to create a resolution for my VGA monitor in Windows to properly display the tweaked 320x400 VGA mode because right now, it's just displaying it squished by half horizontally and full length. Right now I've got this, but I'm not sure it's exactly correct. It's just what Custom Resolution …

Re: 800x600 (Blood)

Hmmm. I am wondering if the VESA mode 0102h and 0103h are only 85Hz, or I can just change the refresh rate to 60Hz and keep the same timings that appeared for 85Hz? Tiny VGA website lists totally different sync timings for SVGA 800x600 @60Hz and for VESA VBE 0102h 800x600 @85Hz 🤷‍♂️

I only remember 480+ modes using 60hz in Build games though F8 should cycle through to 1280x1024 and then back to 320x200. it'll have 70hz for that, 320x400, and 640x400 Ok. Thanks. I'll try changing to 60Hz …

800x600 (Blood)

in Marvin \ Video
I'm playing Blood and I'm seeing some slightly weird behavior with different VESA modes, so I wanted to clear up a few things I'm not sure I understand. I'm asking these questions from the context that I can create my own resolutions (or choose them) to be available to my monitor. I'm using a CRT …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Is there anyway to display the video mode information in the status window? Staging and X both do this by default and it's immensely helpful in debugging and setting video modes. Or if not in real time, then can I have all that resolution switching/setting info saved in a debug file or something? …

Re: swapping CDs in a physical CD ROM drive

in DOSBox General
FYI, in addition to swapping mounted images, Control-F4 also rescans drives (by discarding the cached directory contents), so that may have been the solution after inserting a different disc in the physical optical drive. Rescanning isn't necessary when switching disks with physical floppy drives …

Re: swapping CDs in a physical CD ROM drive

in DOSBox General
Ok. I just gave up because I couldn't get any of these things to work, and it was recommended to me that I should try burning my CD roms to ISO and mounting them. I am able to mount the images, but now the game I am playing is asking for me to swap CDs into drive D, but I can only figure out how to …

Re: swapping CDs in a physical CD ROM drive

in DOSBox General
First make sure the DOSBox build you are using has been compiled with physical CD support. Check the output of "mount -cd" to confirm the physical drives are detected by DOSBox, and which value to use for -usecd. Yes it is, and yes, I did this. That's how I got -usecd 0 Then use either "-aspi", "- …

swapping CDs in a physical CD ROM drive

in DOSBox General
Is this possible? I am doing this: mount d d:\ -t cdrom and the CD I insert is detected only if it's in the drive before I start DOSBox. After I start DOSBox, the filesystem doesn't seem to recognize any new CDROMs I put in the drive. I have a feeling this is expected behavior and that I'm missing …
