For Win98, I'd recommend the S478 motherboard with the Prescott CPU, dual 256MB DIMMs, either the Geforce2 GTS or Geforce 6800GT (depending on what titles you want to run), and both the Montego II and Audigy ZS. This way you have support for both A3D and EAX. You could also use the V3 in the AGP …
