Could be the network card is waiting for a reply from a DHCP server. Try disabling the network card or setting a fixed IP address in Windows.

I've seen Gigabyte use different boxes for the same product. There usually was a sticker on the box somewhere with the model number.

Quick answer: No. The manuals state AT or AT compatible. It has no jumpers for IRQ, DMA, BUS width or Port addresses so you cannot set it to 8bit mode by using only the 8bit IRQ, DMA, Port, etc. AFAIK. Here are links to the manuals in case you do not have them: http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/ …

Finished modding my Gotek 'drives'. FlashFloppy firmware, rotary encoder and an OLED display. Contemplating also adding the piezo speaker for 'floppy sounds' but I think that's a bit silly.

Let us know if that fixes the problem. Did you try another cable also? Googling finds so many suggestions. 80 lead cables are mentioned as a source of trouble also.

I have used these adapters with a variation of CF cards, but have not had this problem. It could be bad luck though. I would try to go back to basic and grab a DOS 6.22 install disk and use FDISK to re-do all partitions and use FORMAT on the disk, to rule out any software problems. You don't …

That connector is a feature connector (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feature_connector). I don't think the circuits around it are designed to provide enought power for a fan and you risk damaging your card. Connect the fan directly to you PSU.
