You never know if they have mold that will gum up the read head, virus you don't need, or the fun of installing a program just to get to disk 12 of 12 and finding it faulty. Also, holy CRAP are Staples-branded floppies awful. The slider doors jam, the slip mats are breaking down, even the plastic itself is getting brittle. Just cheap and nasty. I'm hesitant to put any of these in my LS120 drive for fear of them breaking apart and killing it.

The Oculus DK1 uses DVI or HDMI for video and just acts as a second head. You can mirror or span your main display on it if you like. The tracking, etc. stuff is done via the interface box which connects to USB. Bonus: they're dirt cheap right now.

As somebody who regularly uses DAWs and high-end audio processing software, I don't think 12 cores and 32GB RAM is overkill AT ALL. Of course it depends what you're using it for.
