Re: Titanic - An Adventure in Time

in Windows
Well, it won't be using DOSBox. It is not that hard to get the game to run on Vista/Win7, but it has a very nasty bug where it crashes when you try to save or open a game. The game has two executables; a 16-bit for Win3x and a 32-bit for Win9x. Playing around with compatibility mode can get the …

Help: NE2000 auto-start and winpkt

Hi, my ultimate goal is to get WfWG v3.11 and TCP/IP working and currently I have mTCP (v2015-07-05) ping working with Megabuild (v6) and D-Fend (v1.4.4). When using ne2000=true, if ne2000.com is in my (DosBox) path, ne2000.com auto-starts and errors out. Why does ne2000.com auto-start and error out …

Re: KB3086255 backports Windows 10 security fix that disabled DRM

in Windows
Patch release notes , including a workaround if you must use the DRM and don't have a no-CD or whatever. Keep in mind it's disabled for a reason - it's a common malware vector. It's one thing to introduce a new OS without support, it's another to break support that already exists that people have …

Re: Exclusive 16-bit Windows games

in Windows
I doubt someone did the list you want and it's hard to understand the use of such list. It makes sense to me: they're games that can't be played natively on 64-bit systems due to the lack of support for 16-bit software (and because no one otherwise ported them). There just aren't a lot of …

Re: Exclusive 16-bit Windows games

in Windows
2 problems: 1) there is a common OS classification of games, but as DOS, Win3x had 32 bit games too (win32s), 2) "exclusive" is when absents and can't work on other platforms natively, while 16 bit apps were officialy supported in later Windows and many games worked fine. What you are looking for …

Re: Exclusive 16-bit Windows games

in Windows
Thx! This is been something I've been really interested in. Edit: Quickly read both threads, it's interesting only 1 person called out SimTower and many mentioned both SC and SC2K, which we all know are 32-bit. Ha! I really would like a good list of games that fit into this category as both of those …

Re: SimCity Classic For Windows 95 (Version 2.0)

in Windows
Nevermind, SC2000 came to mind when I said that. Yes, there is a lot of confusion on the net between SC and SC2K, at least when it comes to the Windows versions. That's why I posted this thread. Edit: I just saw a 1999 version that comes with just the Win 3.1/Mac version. Anyone know why the 95 …

Exclusive 16-bit Windows games

in Windows
Hi, I"m interested in which moderately popular games are/were for 16-bit Windows only and never had original DOS or Windows 32-bit ports? I don't care about 16-bit installers because the game executable is what matters (most). I'll start: SimTower (Windows 16-bit only)

Re: SimCity Classic For Windows 95 (Version 2.0)

in Windows
Yes, there was a patch for the Win 3.1 version. There is also an unofficial patch for the Win95 version to run under Win7 without crashing. Please elaborate on this Win 3.1 version patch. Thx. There is also an unofficial patch for the Win95 version to run under Win7 without crashing. I presume that …

Re: Doom95 under Windows 10

in Windows
I've been wondering about this, but I've been wanting to look into DoomGL or glDoom because those seem like it might be a way to run Doom authentically on modern systems. Is Doom 95 better than glDoom/DoomGL or more authentic in any way (that matters)? Doom95 is a direct port of the original DOS …

Re: Doom95 under Windows 10

in Windows
Looks like the artifact of buffer color depth/size mismatch. Have you tried it with dgVoodoo or DXGL's replacement ddraw.dlls? Doom95's generally ick because of the Win9x-centric mouse support, but that's besides the point :) I get what you're trying to do, play the release as it were on a platform …
