I've coated the EDID pin on a cable in the past with some clear nail polish it worked great and I didn't have to ruin a good cable. You just need to clean the pin with some acetone when your done quick and easy.

It should be fine but it could be a little slow. How much ram are you going to put into the system and what speed P3 are you going to run?

Yes it did I still have all my Suse boxes,books, and CDs/DVDs safely stored away. Even though they don't have proper books Suse still has great documentation so I've printed it all out and have it neatly sorted in three ring binders for easy reference and reading.

It's possible it could of been damaged if the cooling solution wasn't up to the task. But if you can get a backup cheap can't hurt to have it and rerun your tests and compare the two.

I'm going to throw open Suse into the mix. I've been using Suse since 7.3 it's a fantastic distribution easy to setup and use and crazy stable.

If your going to monitor system voltages don't rely on the bios or software tools. The hardware monitor chips are crazy inaccurate use a voltmeter and monitor the voltages that way. That's a nice find. BenQ monitors are very good and the specs look great as well and for a tough to beat price.

It looks like it might be a GeForce 7900 GX2. It's a sli card and if you were lucky enough to afford two of them then you were able to have a quad sli system.

Its most likely one of the ram chips is either faulty or has an issue with the lead free solder balls.
