Reminds me of stories I've heard from IBM iron techs. IBM would issue "patch" documentation for hardware to be reworked with wire wrap -- in the field.

You might want to check if the K6-2 is a normal Chompers or CXT model. CXT should be able to clock into 450-500 mhz territory at stock voltages.

A resistor divider would work fine for conversion of 5V to 3.3V as long as your input Z is high and output Z is low (compared to your network Z). Buffered logic is insensitive to impedance. Essentially, choose the tool you require.

Nah, not in terms of finances, just in terms of the used UNIX hardware market. Of course you do have a point. One would almost need their own personal hydro plant to play around with an Onyx 2. That or you could simply stick to using it in the winter months.

Older versions of QNX might be hard to track down as QNX was formerly very tightly licensed.

Sure, as long as the input impedance of the sound cards is high enough. If not, you'll have volume attenuation.

Regular Linux started with 32bit from the very beginning kernel version 0.01. There is one 16bit derivative, ELKS , that is targeted for 8086 systems. In an extreme case some one managed to boot Linux on a 8bit RISC microcontroller with the help of self-written ARMv5 emulator. Interesting that ELKS …
