Re: worms united and reinforcements

in Windows
Audio stuttering in Worms is an old problem. It may be CPU related or Windows related, as it doesn't happen in slow (>200 MHz) machines running pure DOS. What are the specs of your system?

Nostromo keypad N50 - really could not get on with it I have one of those. I originally got it to play RTS games. The ability to assign macros to the keys was useful. However eventually the software was no longer updated and this functionality was lost in newer Windows versions. I still use it as a …

Re: GTX 590 Windows XP

As an aside, which version of the UD7 is this? Version 1.0 is actually better (more robust for overclocking) than 2.0. When Gigabyte released the UD9 they went back and gimped the UD7 so it wouldn't compete with the more expensive board. This was controversial at the time. (Some people described the …

Elevator trim: I have a Logitech Driving Force steering wheel mounted upside down on the side (not front) of my desk for this. It works very well. The size of the wheel gives you fine control over trim. (The pedals of course are used for rudder control.) ETA: picture DSC_0075_crop.JPG It's a big …

Must have been my documents then. Some of these were (and still are) very large/complex with lots of embedded objects (mostly images, but also Excel sheets, text files, even audio and video). Plus I always have multiple documents open simultaneously, sometimes very many (10-20). A Word crash when …

Oh man, Word used to crash constantly in the old days. Especially typing in footnotes. I would always dread editing footnotes because there was a high probability of a crash. And this problem persisted after converting all my documents to docx with Word 2007. I'm editing the same documents today and …

Life has got much harder for non-academically-minded guys. It used to be you could leave school at 16, walk into a factory, and in a couple of years be earning enough to get a car, a house, get married and have kids. That's just not possible anymore. You need stacks of education now, but not all …

Terminator (1991) allowed you to roam at will across a large area of Los Angeles. It was really groundbreaking at the time. (I guess it's the spiritual ancestor of the GTA games.)

Re: The "Lian Li I/O Adapter EX-10 Media Bay", an interesting 5.25" Front Panel accessorie

I once fried a game port joystick by hot pugging it. Not certain if it was the plugging that did the damage or if the stick was faulty for some other reason. Nevertheless, I've never hot swapped the game port since. ETA: Maybe I'm paranoid, but I avoid hot swapping anything that isn't a USB port. …
