Re: Sound Blaster PCI Legacy problems.....

in PC Emulation
I was going to try newspeed but i am not sure now as it flashes the CPU bios instead of unlocking bios features on the actual motherboard. If i flashed the CPU bios to a different speed it might go wrong and i will be left with a useless CPU :s-face: There is something mentioned like that in one of …

Nice system for sure. What harddisk sizes can it handle? I was actually hoping you would have one of the older 'multiplier limited' Pentium-II's installed. Because with your mainboard and such a CPU you can use intel's newspeed.exe to set the CPU multiplier, hence the CPU speed. I did not know …

Glad you like the soundcard, it is a very nice soundcard I agree. I even got me a second one some time ago. But I am currently messing about with ISA cards. Good thing you used the SB-Link cable. In the Windows 98 dos box (when windows is actually loaded) you can use the semi-software midi …

Hi, thanks for the links! Anyway i have ordered a Yamaha PCI sound card that has hardware 3D support for windows and hardware soundblaster pro support for Dos :happyhappy: The YMF724 PCI chipset should work well. Genuine OPL3 FM-sound indeed. But no Midi in pure dos without an external midi device, …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

gerwin. Awesome review. Thanks! I have one coming myself that I bought on eBay. You probably eliminated a couple hours of testing for me with that review. Cool, I am curious as to how it will work for you. 1) Do you have pictures or instructions for the joystick mod? The way I wrote it should make …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

Wanted to write a small review on this card, but it seems to have gotten quite extensive, enjoy :). Soundcard: Audio Excel CMI8330 (PCB-ID: AV310). Origin: China/Taiwan around 1997. Chipset: C-Media CMI8330/A. Soundcard also sold as: Zoltrix Audio Plus 6400 3D PnP V.5. Chipset also available on: …

Re: An old, but still very sore, place, left over from years ago, and Swaaye mentioned it . .

My own experience with a 440BX was terrible. I had trouble with every kind of video card and audio card that I tried in mine (P2/400) That is surprising. Since the 440BX is about the most famous mainboard in the 1998-2000 period, and videocards from that era should therefore be thoroughly tested to …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

I'm very interested in your further testing, especially if there is a "hanging" note problem on the WB header. But the big question is... why wouldn't this board have been brought up before on Vogons? Kinda makes me think something is fishy about it... or it just slipped through everyone's radar. …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

You guys just cannot resist bringing up Creative Labs hardware in my own Clone-Only topic. ;) But now here comes something else to consider, because it seems the CMI8330 is for real! I only just started testing the thing. But so far it does what I hoped it would: -SB+SBPro compatible -SB16 …
